About Skype for Business

Skype for Business (previously known as Lync) is a tool for communication and collaboration between teams within the company. It consists of instant-messaging client and Skype for Business Server.

It is a very powerful productivity tool for those companies who have Skype for Business standardization, providing them with a combination of instant messaging, video conferencing and file sharing.

Seavus Project Viewer is seamlessly integrated with Skype for Business, providing the end-users with the following features:

View the presence status of your team

Viewing the presence status of your team can be very useful in the everyday practice. If you are already have Skype for Business installed in your company and you are using it as communication tool, when Seavus Project Viewer opens project plan, you will immediately see the presence status of your team. The view of your team status will look like the image below.

View Resource Contact Card

If the “Online status” feature is turned on and you hover the mouse cursor over some resource, you will see that temporary dialog will pop-up.

That is the resource’s Contact Card.

The Contact Card is a feature in the Business Contact Manager for Outlook that contains information specific to your business data.

Seavus Project Viewer user can see the contact cards for the resources in the project plan in those views that contains the “Resource Name” column, such as Gantt Chart, Resource, Task Usage Views, etc.

Typically, the contact card looks like the image left.

Sent Instant Messages (IM)

Besides viewing resource’s information, the contact card gives you possibility to start Instant Messaging with your teammates. By simply clicking on the icon for IM, new dialog will pop-up for starting the conversation.

Multiple Timeline view

Timeline view gives overall view of the project plan.

A Seavus Project Viewer user can insert any task from the project plan in timeline view and create its own timeline for emphasizing the important tasks.

Using the newly multiple timeline feature, team member or team lead can add more than one timeline.

This in order to illustrate different stages of the project plan, and have more detailed overview of entire project plan.

Support for several resource records in the Domain Name System (DNS) for Concurrent version

This feature is intended primarily for the IT administrators, who deploys concurrent version of Seavus Project Viewer across the company.

The CNAME abbreviated stands for Canonical Name record and it is used to specify that the domain name is alias for another domain.
